Grow my pretty

My herbs are growing. I'm one proud gardener! This is the pot of herbs I planted seedlings in (Basil and Chives) a week or so ago...nothing to see but soil.

This morning I found the following...

The Chives have not sprouted yet, they should be along the back of the pot, I'm not sure if this means I didn't do such a good job at planting or if I might find something tomorrow. The Chives were about 2mm deeper to sew than the basil so here's hoping.

Meanwhile, the weeds have also grown, better do some gardening in the coming days.

Just your regular comedian

Nothing reinstates your sense of inner comedian like a giggly 11 month old! Today Angus was particularly giggly and smiley, perhaps that had something to do with his big brother being at preschool. Angus as a result had the day to roam without his over enthusiastic big brother smothering him with love and attention all day.

My giggly little boy even looks cute upside down...don't you think!?
Tonight I was singing 'Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose' to him whilst having cuddles before bed and apparently it was about the funniest thing ever. His infectious little giggles had me laughing with him and was a nice positive start to the night before he then fought to go to sleep. Hopefully at 11pm, 1am, 3am, 4am and 5am I can reflect on that giggly moment before his bedtime tonight so that the frequent night wakings are not quite as soul destroying!

Strawberries, Blueberries and Herbs...oh my

I'm most excited to finally be starting a vegetable/fruit garden. It has been a long time dream of mine to be able to pick more fresh things to eat from our very own garden. Before the move we had a healthy stash of about 4-5 different herbs at home which we picked on a daily basis to add to our meals. This time I want more than just herbs. As I learn about Perth and gardening here I will keep adding to our little garden...but for now this is just our humble start.

This is a photo of the Strawberry and Blueberry plants, I've got some seedlings of Basil and Chives in the pot beside which I'm hoping sprout up in the next fortnight!

City boys hit the beach

Now that the house is finally on the way to being completed, boxes mostly unpacked, pictures mostly all hung and a home found for (nearly) everything we have started to adventure around our new city a little more. Last week I took the boys on a number of adventures. We've found some great parks and beaches all within a short drive of our new home.

This picture amuses me, it was the first time the boys have hit the beach together. Waves, sand, sun, surf...and I think the picture says it all really.

Two city boys hitting the beach!!! I've been pleasantly surprised to find that the more visits we have made to the beach the more Angus has become confident and happy to visit it. Master 3 however has quite some way before he happily hits the beach. The waves are scary and we are most cautious.

We are most enjoying these new outtings with our boys though, living near the beach is certainly not loosing its novelty on us.

Here i am

I've tried many times in the past to start blogging. For numerous reasons the blogs have started and finished just as quickly. Here is my latest attempt - and I'm determined to make this one last.

So who am I? Well I am Heather, wife to Chris and mummy to two cheeky little monkeys, Hamish (4 years) and Angus (10 months).
3 weeks ago I started a big adventure, a differnent one to any I had been on previously. This time we took the plunge and moved across the country to Perth. Away from family, away from all of our friends...away from life as we knew it. Everything is suddenly new.

So if you dare join me in our daily adventures of our new life on the West coast.
